{"id":2659,"date":"2018-08-01T21:43:45","date_gmt":"2018-08-01T19:43:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/palinski.org\/?p=2659"},"modified":"2021-05-10T17:13:35","modified_gmt":"2021-05-10T15:13:35","slug":"main-city-town-hall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/palinski.org\/?p=2659","title":{"rendered":"Main City Town Hall"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Gda\u0144sk has two town halls &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gda%C5%84sk_Town_Hall\">Main City Town Hall<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/pl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ratusz_Starego_Miasta_w_Gda%C5%84sku\">Old City Town Hall<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/pl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/G%C5%82%C3%B3wne_Miasto\">Main City<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/pl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Stare_Miasto_(Gda%C5%84sk)\">Old City<\/a> are two different districts and often people refer to the Gda\u0144sk historic center simply as &#8220;old city&#8221;, even locals do so. Main City Town Hall is located in Main City district at&nbsp;54\u00b020\u201956\u2033N 18\u00b039\u201909\u2033E, near Neptune&#8217;s Fountain, just about the place where Long Lane and Long Market conects. Although if you ask about old city everyone will point you roughly to this place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Building started in 1346, but in 1378-1382 it was rebuild, tower was added in\u00a01486\u20131488. This is the most representative hall in Main City Town Hall, this is the hall in which court was sitting, king&#8217;s (and his representative) audiences happened and also Gda\u0144sk citizenship granting ceremony happened. Tower is 83,5 meter high and you can go to the part above clock. It is the second highest building in the Gda\u0144sk historic center, only St. Mary&#8217;s Basilica is higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Western view: you can clearly see <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Long_Lane,_Gda%C5%84sk\">Long Lane<\/a>&nbsp;ending with <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Golden_Gate_(Gda%C5%84sk)\">Z\u0142ota Brama<\/a>&nbsp;(Golden Gate).
